The dictionary defines summer as the time of the year when the sun is hottest... It is the period between autumn and spring and is characterized by longer days. The temperature of different places on earth becomes hotter than on a normal day, making it uncomfortable for people to live in such environments.
So in this article, I’m going to list our 10 hottest places on the planet.
1. Death Valley, California, USA.

Just as the name implies, death valley is inarguably the hottest place on the planet.
In the early 1900 century, the temperature of Death Valley was recorded as high as 56.9 °C which made it hard for humans to survive there. As a result, the hotness of the region made scientists nickname it Furnace Creek.
There have been different arguments among researchers as to how hot Death Valley is. However, in the summer of 2021, the temperature of Death Valley still stands at 54 °C which makes it the driest place on earth.

With a record of 122 F, local Chinese people have to beat the heat by using silk or even bamboo to insulate their body.

3. Lut Desert, Iran
Due to it being situated on the geothermal pole of the earth, the Lut Desert in Iran has hit the peak of the hottest places on earth in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009 with 70 °C in 2005.

4. Sahara Desert, Africa
The Sahara is the largest hot desert in the world and the third-largest desert overall, behind the cold deserts of Antarctica and the Arctic. The Sahara is one of the harshest environments on Earth, covering 3.6 million square miles (9.4 million square kilometers), an area about the size of the United States (including Alaska and Hawaii) and spanning nearly a third of the African continent according to Britannica Encyclopedia.
The Sahara is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, the Red Sea to the east, the Mediterranean Sea to the north and the Sahel savanna to the south. The enormous desert spans 10 countries (Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Sudan and Tunisia) as well as the territory of Western Sahara, a former Spanish colony that was annexed by Morocco in 1975, though control of the region is disputed by the Indigenous Saharawi people as stated by the BBC in 2021.
5. Ouargla, Algeria
In July 2018, the world meteorological organization confirmed Ouargla, Algeria as the second hottest place in Africa.
6. Mitribah, Kuwait and Basra, Iraq
These two places both occupied the sixth hottest region. Located in Asian is the world’s third hottest place. Mitribah is a very remote region in Northern Kuwait that recorded 53.9 °C in the summer of 2016. Till today, the region remains world’s hottest place.
Joint 6th hottest place in the world is Basra. For those who don’t know, Basra is a city in Iraq whose temperature hits 53.9 °C in July 2016.
